Jib,
130 sq. ft
The Jib is available
as a hank-on sail or for a self furler. Jib equipment is
required and is sold separately. It consists of adjustable
low profile fairlead blocks and sheets. The jib attaches
to the headstay and the sheets go to adjustable blocks mounted
on a track on the cockpit coaming.
In
areas where winds are generally heavy, skippers will usually
use the jib, or a furled genoa. A furling genoa may not
be as efficient when furled as individual sails of different
sizes bent to accommodate different winds. Racers seem to
enjoy the sport of changing sails and keep the full selection
on hand. Others prefer to keep it simple and pick
a sail that generally suits the local wind conditions.
