MacGregor 26M   Safety   

The MacGregor 26M has built-in solid foam flotation to keep it afloat in the event of damage.

Three hundred pounds of permanent ballast provides added stability when the water ballest is empty.

The MacGregor 26M is self righting with the water ballast tank filled.

The mast is sealed with injected urethane foam which acts as a buoyancy chamber equivalent in righting power of an added 500 pounds of ballast.

The MacGregor 26M has a wider side deck which makes it easier and safer to get to the foredeck.

The optional mast raising system makes it easy to safely rig or de-rig the boat by only one person.   It uses a small brake winch to raise and lower the mast and a set of removable wire cables keep the mast centered as it goes up or down.

The cabin entry is raised which helps protect the cabin from flooding in a severe following sea.

The smaller transom opening provides more protection from a severe following sea.

The steering seat is elevated providing the captain with more comfortable seating and better visibility.
